Drawing 5, 19.2 X 27.4 cm.

Manga, by Hokusai, Taito II(?) and others(?).

5 A. Sketch, two men, by Hokusai.

Published in Chinsetsu yumihari zuki, vol. 2, plate 5B –6A, in 1807.

5 B. Woman kneeling and turning her head, by Hokusai.

Published in Chûkô itako bushi, vol. 5, pp.3B – 4A, in 1809.

5 C. Woman walking towards the left, attributed to Taïto II.

Published in Oguri Gaiden vol. 3, pp. 19B – 20A, in 1813(?).

The same woman, with a few minor changes to the pattern of the kimono was reproduced in Ukiyo-e Masterpieces in E. C., vol. 4, plate 18 – 7, attributed to Taïto II. Comparing these two appearances of this woman leads us to believe that they are both drawn by the same artist.

5 D. sketch,  two figures, by Hokusai.

Published in Oguri Gaiden vol. 3, pp. 19B – 20A, in 1813(?).

5 E. studies of trees and rocks, by Hokusai and ???

None of these elements seem to have been published. It would seem that in this study of rocks and leaves by Hokusai, probably for publication, more drawing, firstly of trees and then a drainpipe was added, rendering this illegible and unsuitable for publication. This drawing is an exception within this collection, seeming to have been deliberately spoilt by overworking.
